Title: Well Done, Team Scotland

Motion Text:
That the Parliament sends its warmest congratulations to Team Scotland on what it considers an outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games; notes that the total of 53 medals won surpasses the previous record of 33, which was set at Edinburgh in 1986; commends all of the athletes in the team on winning 19 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze medals as well as achieving a fourth-place finish out of 71 competing nations and territories; notes that Scotland performed very well per capita, with its 106 medal points that equated to 49,057 people-per-medal point, and believes that its success in the Games is yet further evidence that an independent Team Scotland would be well placed to compete in a future Olympics.

Title: The First World War

Motion Text:
That the Parliament notes the anniversary of the commencement of the First World War; deeply regrets what was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, which led to the death of over nine million people; respects the beliefs of the conscientious objectors as well as the sincerity and bravery of the ordinary soldiers who sacrificed so much; notes the continuing controversy over whether the European leaders were well intentioned or seriously negligent in taking their countries to war, and hopes both that everyone can learn the lesson that war should never be entered into lightly and that Scotland and the UK should be part of a more peaceful world in which all people can live in harmony.
