That the Parliament sends its warmest congratulations to Team Scotland on what it considers an outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games; notes that the total of 53 medals won surpasses the previous record of 33, which was set at Edinburgh in 1986; commends all of the athletes in the team on winning 19 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze medals as well as achieving a fourth-place finish out of 71 competing nations and territories; notes that Scotland performed very well per capita, with 106 medal points, which equated to 49,057 people-per-medal point, and believes that its success in the Games is yet further evidence that an independent Team Scotland would be well placed to compete in a future Olympics.
