S4M-05400 John Mason (Glasgow Shettleston) (Scottish National Party): That the Parliament notes the recent report by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator on the Glasgow East Regeneration Agency, which concluded that there was misconduct by the trustees of the charity, including Labour councillors from Glasgow, in authorising a discretionary payment of some £232,000 to augment the severance package of the charity’s departing chief executive; notes that the charity’s objectives included relieving and preventing poverty among residents of the east end and helping those in need because of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, alcohol or drugs dependency or other issues; believes therefore that there were many better uses that the money could have been put toward that would have been more in line with the charity’s objectives, and deplores that that two of the councillors continue to represent Glasgow City Council on a range of charities and external organisations.
