S4M-08668 John Mason (Glasgow Shettleston) (Scottish National Party): That the Parliament notes that, for some families, Christmas is a time of year when people stress about family relations, spend excessive amounts of money on gifts and often get needlessly into debt; regrets that, although Christmas has become increasingly commercialised for many in society, it considers that it is in fact fundamentally a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, and hopes that Christmas 2013 can be a time for people across Scotland to pause, reflect and rest after what, for many, will have been a challenging year, to spend time with family and loved ones and to draw on the hope of the true Christmas message.
