S4M-04386: Recognising the Work of BUAV

04 Oct 2012

S4M-04386 # John Mason (Glasgow Shettleston) (Scottish National Party): That the Parliament commends the work of the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV), which campaigns for the abolition of animal experiments across the UK, including Glasgow Shettleston; notes with concern recent figures suggesting that, in 2012, there was an 11% increase in the number of animal experiments; appreciates what it sees as the commitment by many of Scotland’s politicians to reduce these levels, and would welcome a reduction in the number of animal experiments, a refinement to the techniques used to minimise distress and alternative methods of experimentation that do not involve animals.
