18 Oct 2011

The Scottish National Party have selected their team for Shettleston ward in the forthcoming elections to Glasgow City Council.

Local SNP members met in the East End recently and unanimously backed sitting councillor, Bailie John McLaughlin and Sandyhills man, Adam Miller, as their team to face election in ward 19 at next year’s local government ballot.

Commenting on the SNP’s selection, SNP MSP for Glasgow Shettleston, John Mason, said:

“We have a great team going into next year’s council elections and I look forward to campaigning with Adam and John. We have the experience in Cllr John McLaughlin and the energy and ambition in Adam Miller who I’m sure will make a fine addition to the SNP’s team in the East End”.

Sitting councillor for ward 19, Shettleston, Bailie John McLaughlin added:

“As an established councillor here in Shettleston, I have the knowledge and experience to get things done. I will continue to work tirelessly for Shettleston if re-elected and I look forward to putting forward the case for electing an SNP controlled Council at next May’s election.

“The Labour Party have been in power for too long and it’s time for a change in the City Chambers”.

SNP candidate for Shettleston ward, Adam Miller, also said:

“Working with John McLaughlin, I believe I have the energy and ambition to stand up and fight for the area I’m proud to live in and call home. Shettleston has its challenges but I pledge that, if elected, I will work as part of a hardworking SNP team to fight for local people and services which the Labour Administration has badly let down”.
