JOHN LODGES HIS FIRST PARLIAMENTARY MOTION

23 May 2011

SNP Member of the Scottish Parliament for Glasgow Shettleston, John Mason, has lodged his first parliamentary motion since being sworn in as an MSP.

Today John lodged the following motion, which draws attention to the increased service on the new Glasgow to Edinburgh rail link that runs through his Shettleston constituency:

S4M-00081 John Mason (Scottish National Party): That the Parliament notes the recently increased service on the Helensburgh to Edinburgh rail line via Glasgow, Airdrie and Bathgate, which serves many towns in central Scotland, and welcomes the continued development of this service, which it considers to be proof of the Scottish Government’s commitment to transport and, in particular, public transport projects.

Commenting, John Mason MSP said:

“This increased service will be a huge benefit to local people using trains at High Street, Bellgrove, Carntyne, Shettleston, Garrowhill and Easterhouse.

“The Airdrie to Bathgate rail link, paid for and delivered by the SNP Government, is a great investment in our transport network and comes in addition to other projects such as the M74 motorway extension, which is due to open on 28th June”.
