Former Glasgow East MP, John Mason, has been selected to stand for election as MSP for Glasgow Shettleston at the forthcoming Scottish
Parliament elections in May next year.
He was unamiously selected at a meeting of local SNP members in the East End.
Speaking after his selection, John Mason said:
“I am delighted to have been chosen as the SNP’s candidate for Shettleston. Having represented the East End for ten years as a Councillor and two as a
Member of Parliament, I reckon I am familiar with local issues and I am committed to standing up for local people in the Scottish Parliament should I be elected.
“I am proud to stand on the SNP Government’s record which has resulted in 1,000 extra police officers on Scotland’s streets, a freeze on council tax and the building of the new M74 motorway amongst many other things.
“I am determined to win the Glasgow Shettleston constituency seat, and for this reason I will not be standing on the Glasgow regional list. I am committed to working for the people of the East End and very much look forward to getting back on the campaign trail and winning re-election for an SNP Government.
“The SNP fightback in the East End starts right here, right now”.
