John Mason, the SNP candidate for Glasgow East, has welcomed backing for his re-election campaign from the Fire Brigades Union (FBU).
The Scottish Regional Committee of the Fire Brigades Union has decided to sponsor John Mason, and is supporting his campaign to the tune of £500.00.
John, who is the SNP’s Work & Pensions spokesman, has welcomed this development, commenting:
“I am delighted that the FBU has decided to support my re-election campaign. The Labour Party certainly seems to be well-funded in Glasgow East, and I very grateful for the FBU’s donation. It will help me to compete on a more equal footing with the London parties.
“This valuable campaign contribution comes as the Scottish TUC are gathering for their conference in Dundee, and is a timely reminder of how much times have changed.
“Not so long ago, it would have been hard to imagine any trade union backing the SNP candidate instead of the Labour one. to my mind, it just goes to show that the Labour party has increasingly lost the support of working people and their families, both here in the East End and throughout Scotland”
